FRANKENSTEIN (Edison - 1910)

  1. The Edison film is pretty sophisticated for 101 years ago. I especially like the sepia-toned scenes--so fitting for this aged film. Funny how scenes change from sepia to gray to even blue. Was that done originally, or is it due to age?

The special effects are impressive; and the effect with the mirror at the end, where the monster turns into the creator, is creative and communicative! Intertitles and music are crucial to silent films like this one. The monster's long feet are humorous!)
