A FEW TOP 20 LISTS

These lists are meant to be guides for future viewing if you find yourself drawn to any one of the genres we will study in class. They are all titles you can't go wrong with. There are three lists here covering Westerns, Film Noir and Horror. A few foreign titles weaseled their way in but all the rest are as solid as Mom and apple pie.   1. I watched The Thing this weekend. Great movie...lots of gore and just plain grossness. I read on IMDB that Universal turned down a remake pitch, as they felt Carpenter's film was already perfect, so making a remake would be like "painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa". Very apt....wish studios would concern this versus profits regarding other remakes. They are still doing a movie "The Thing" but it appears to be a prequel.
