The Big Lebowski by Lale Parez

What happens after the Coen brothers start to write, produce, and direct a movie? Well, that's when you get the magnificent film, "The Big Lebowski." The entire storyline could be defined as a combination of comedy and mystery with a touch of hallucinogenic experiences. It was released in 1998 but still finds its way into the category of unique and must-watch movies. The movie is also a compilation of great bowling nights and lots of White Russians. Although "The Big Lebowski" is a well-known film as of February 2018, it received a lot of mix feelings during its first screening.

The storyline is written around the main character, Mister Lebowski, popularly known as, The Dude. This character is played by Jeff Bridges, who does an incredible job at creating a singular way of talking and acting as Lebowski. His personality can be described as a very relaxed person, with a high threshold for stress. The Dude does not worry about things that generally people worry about. For example, getting attacked and beat up by strangers is not a problem for him. Although, you do not wat to mess up with The Dude’s rug. Let’s just say his rug is his weak spot when it comes to losing it.

All characters in the film have a distinctive personality and way of balancing the humor. John Goodman plays the role of Walter Sobchack, who conforms one the three members of Lebowski's group of friends. This character, in particular, is the complete opposite of The Dude. Sobchack shows viewers a Vietnam veteran with a violent personality. The Dude and Sobchack complement can confuse any viewer when trying to understand how this two completely different characters complement each other. Adding more characters to the gang, we have Steve Buscemi who plays the role of Donny. This particular character is some sort of break when Walter's car is about to crash. He is genuinely a nice guy, that really balances both Lebowski who's not really into anyone's business, and Sobchack who's into everyone's business.

Overall, the film presents a particular and creative story, combining three completely different characters and creating a dysfunctional but functional group of friends. The movie is and continues to be a classic must-watch film through the years because of its unique storyline. Let's say that the combination of characters and storyline creates, what The Dude would say, the rug that really tied the room together.
