It's 1959 in California and greaser Danny Zuko and
Australian Sandy Olsson are in love. They spend a summer at the beach together
and fall in love. The two love birds are devastated when the summer ends
because Sandy thought she would be returning to Australia at the end of summer.
But when school starts again Sandy’s parents decided to stay here, what they
don't know is that they both now attend Rydell High. Danny's the leader of the
T-Birds, a group of black leather jacket-wearing greasers who think they are rough
and tough, while Sandy joins the Pink Ladies, a group led by Rizzo. When they
figure out they both go to the same school now, Danny isn't the same Danny from
the beach. They run into each other at the school’s first pep rally of the
year. Danny tries being all tough in front of the guys and ends up really
hurting Sandy’s feelings. Danny tries to make it up to her throughout the film,
and he really wants to be with her, but he is scared of what the guys will say and
think. He tries to keep them a secret from the guys as long as he can. Sandy
likes hanging out with her new girl friends. They try to help her through the
whole Danny mess. Danny and Sandy try to be like each other at the end of the
film, so they can be together.
I would absolutely recommend seeing this film. It is a very
fun exciting movie. I love all the music in it. It represents the 50s so well
too. I have never been too hip on musicals, but this is definitely one of my
favorite movies. The music was catchy, the actors and actresses were great, and
the storyline is amazing. If you have not already seen it, I totally recommend
watching it.
